Creating A User Security

This document provides information on how to create a user security without an employee profile associated with it.  This is normally done when an individual needs access to the system for things like running reports or processing payroll, but will not be tracking time themselves or directly supervising employees.

User will not:

  • Be tracking punches, dollars or hours (Includes PTO, VAC, SICK, etc.)
  • Be directly supervising any employees

To create a user security for login without profile, follow the steps below:

1. Navigate to Security Setup > User Security.

2. Click on the button in the bottom left corner.

3. A blank format for the User Security should appear. Type in the desired Username.

The Username will be used to login and must not be the same as a current or past employee.

4. Type in the desired password under Password and Confirm Password.

5. Set the authentication type to TimeStar – Strong Passwords.

6. If your system is built to house multiple companies and the user should access some or all of them, set to Yes.

7. If the employee should create a unique password for themselves the first time they log in, set to Yes.

8. Move any companies the employee may access from right to left.

9. Select the desired Group Membership from right to left. This defines the Security Permissions for the User and will most likely be an administrative role.

10. Click the button once complete.

11. A warning message should appear, click OK to continue.
