Daylight Savings Time Information

Daylight Savings:

The following information details how the Time & Attendance system handles Daylight Savings Time in the Spring and Fall depending on the Time Zone the employee is assigned.

Spring Forward:

In the Spring, the 2 AM hour is skipped. The 2 AM hour does not exist, so there is no need to worry about punching in/out at that time.

  • After 1:59 AM the time will jump to 3:00 AM
    • This means an employee who works 12 AM-8 AM on 3/10/2024 will calculate at 7 hours rather than 8.

Fall Back:

In the Fall, the 1:00 AM Hour is repeated.

  • The same employee, working 12 AM-8 AM on 11/03/2024 will calculate at 9 hours rather than 8.
  • Technically, the employee worked the 1 AM hour twice.
  • At 2:00 AM the time will jump back to 1:00 AM

We recommend NOT punching during the time that will be duplicated in the Fall (1:00 AM – 1:59:59 AM in both instances – that entire 2-hour window).

In the Fall, supervisors will receive alerts for any employees that punched during the 1 AM hours. This allows them to review the employee’s time and determine if the punch(es) occurred in the 1st 1 AM hour or the 2nd 1 AM hour.

If Overtime is calculated:

  • Legally, this cannot be adjusted by Delphia Consulting. Staff will need to reach out to their Payroll Specialist or HR Specialist for assistance.
Do NOT edit punches. If the administrator or supervisor wants to add time for the employee, they can do so via the Hours page.
